The current status of the Brexit negotiations and the potential implications on the financial sector
The Breakfast Seminar with Tarek Al-Wazir, the Minister of Economics of the German State of Hessen, will focus on the current market situation and discuss possible consequences for the financial sector: banks and markets, euro-clearing, what's in it for whom?
After EU leaders agreed to move on to the second phase of Brexit talks in December 2017, many important issues still remain unresolved. The financial sector is especially affected by the Brexit decision and the clarification of crucial legal parameters is vital to ensure a smooth transition.
The seminar in cooperation with law firm CMS will start with a presentation by Mr Tarek Al-Wazir, who will share his views on the current status of the negotiations and examine the possible impact of Brexit on financial services.
It will be followed by a panel discussion with, amongst others,
- Dr. Oliver Wagner, Managing Director of the Association of Foreign Banks in Germany (Verband der Auslandsbanken in Deutschland e.V.)
- Stephen Phillips, Partner at CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP, Edinburgh
The panel will be moderated by Dr Ulrich Hoppe, Director General of the German-British Chamber of Industry & Commerce.
