Alex is EVP, Business Development & Future Programmes, for Defence UK & International markets. He is a member of the Defence Leadership Team and reports to the President of Defence.
Alex is responsible for future and classified projects, technology development, development of new business, government relations and sales. Prior to this, he led the Defence Customer and Government Relations team.
Up until January 2026 Alex was Head of Global Government Relations, Group.
Previously, Alex was Director, Strategy and Future Programmes, where his responsibilities included strategy, business planning, delivery of future projects and driving growth. He has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Exeter University and is a Board member and Shareholder representative on a number of Rolls-Royce’s Joint Ventures.
Alex started his career with Rolls-Royce in 1997 and held a variety of Engineering roles in the Commercial Aerospace division. Following a short spell in the Corporate Centre, he moved into the Defence Aerospace business where he has had a number of leadership positions in Services, Business Planning, Strategy and Programmes.
Alex lives near Bath with his wife Sarah and four children, who take up most of his leisure time.
